So this month is damn near over.
Miles logged? ZERO
Injuries nursed? ZERO
Flus endured? ONE
Add one EPIC concert (macklemore and ryan lewis), one tattoo (5 year wedding anniversary decoration), one nose piercing (squee!), half a dozen novels (re-reading god-shaped hole) and a few bottles of wine... there's my month!
So, I haven't been running and yeah it has been weird, but I just felt like taking a little bit of time off. December is nuts with the holidays and work has been busy as always. No time like the present to get my rest on.
Of course my absence has made me feel guilty, but that's a dumb feeling so I'm releasing it. I'm not sitting over here eating ho-hos and packing on lbs so there's nothing to worry about. I feel like I should note that I am still meat-free and I really think that has contributed to my LACK of weight gain. Not just cutting out meat itself, but it really is difficult to chow on fast foods. Being more planful about fooding is never a bad thing.
I do feel ready to get back on the running wagon. I am hoping I will feel more inspired and renewed than ever.
How do you know it is time to start running after a break? You feel one part cagey and two parts crazy.
Since I don't have anything pressing on the calendar and I haven't registered for a race next year... I am just going to run as often and as long as I want.
I haven't really done that since shortly after I started running. I got hooked on racing three months after my first run and I have really been hopping from race to race ever since.
Does that mean I'm swearing of races? Of course not, but I do just want to BE for awhile... at least through February or March. Still have Chicago and hopefully and bomb-ass relay on my radar!
Has your month flown by?
Do you run to race?

Merry Christmas to you!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love racing, but ever since getting a fun group of running friends, I've been as happy just running with them...or non-racing. We have friends who put together free races, and those are pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteI've been following a paleo diet and having similar weight effects, which is funny bc it's almost the opposite of your diet. I think the biggest benefit, though, comes in having to avoid processed food and fast food.
Merry Christmas, and here's to a January every bit as good as your December. :)
Ever since I started running, Post 'big race' season has always been the toughest for me. This year it's been complicated by work, school and moving. Anyway, I'm with you on the month lapse. The break is nice...but I always return. So here's to Chicago! and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! I am still doing the streak but am not loving running at all. After it's over I think I'm going to take a complete break in hopes that I get my mojo back. Because I most definitely want in on that bomb-ass relay! ;)
ReplyDelete1st Merry Christmas! 2nd I have barely been running this month and that has been great, a much needed break. 3rd your comment on my blog made me so excited. So when you see a random Wisconsin marathoner freak out when she sees you Panty Raiders it will be me. 4th if you ever need a person to fill a relay squad I will happily fill in, even buy some brand spankin new panties for the occasion:). Chicago is on my list too!
ReplyDeleteI definitely do NOT run to race! I've done very few races...they're toooooooo expensive!
ReplyDeletei am of two minds about "running to race." in part, i like the motivation that signing up for a race provides. but i agree with becky above- too expensive.
ReplyDeletei think that i'll be going in phases with this one.
happy days all the year, girlie.
Everyone needs a break and I think it's important to listen to your body and rest as needed :) It'll only make you hungrier when you come back….like when you ramp up your training for that bomb-ass relay!
