Adieu 2012

2012 has come and almost gone.

Am I sad to see her go? Nope, not really. It was a tough year and while I learned A LOT about myself, being married, being happy and all that crap... I'm glad to be through it.

I'm excited for 2013! Aaron, my beloved pessimistic husband, made an unusual comment a few weeks ago. He said he felt like something really good was going to happen for us soon... like we'd achieve a goal or something. For some reason, since he is usually not doling out the happy vibes, I am excitedly looking for good around every corner.

With that being said, 2012 was tough, but holy crap I had some good times with some good ass people.

2012 Highlights:

  1. We adopted our third and final cat, Persephone "snerfer, sneffers, persnuggler" Scheer. We also learned that she is not timid, but bat shit crazy.
  2. My best friend in the whole damn world, Emily, came from Montana to stay with me in Iowa for a week! It was awesome and I miss her crazy style.
  3. RAGNAR Chicago. Tough experience that was both exhilarating and disappointing, but I made some flippin' awesome friends that I will surely adore forever.
  4. Celebrated 1 year of home ownership (July)! and 5 years of marriage (September)!
  5. I ran the Twin Cities Marathon and what a ball buster that was. But, I FINISHED and made a new friend!
  6. I got to meet so many blogger/internet friends! And I loved every one of them!
  7. Saw Lindsey Buckingham, Mumford & Sons, Fun., Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, G-Eazy and Hoodie Allen in concert. Those last three are white rappers leading to my 2012 new found love of white rap, I am not ashamed.
  8. I got my third tattoo (with Aaron)! and a stud in my nose!
  9. I finally was able to kick my Splenda dependancy for good and I transition into being a black coffee drinker.
  10. I stopped eating meat and drinking cow milk in September and keep working towards a plant based diet. I'm not vegan as I still eat greek yogurt, eggs and some cheese.

2012 Favorites:

Drink(s): Dark Roast Coffee, Good Earth Tea, Cab Sav
Food: Burritos, Chili, Beets salads with goat cheese.
Movie: Well I'm hoping for Silver Linings Playbook, which I'm going to tonight...until then... Looper, Moonrise Kingdom, Argo, Skyfall
Book: Geez, I read a ton, but wouldn't admit to most of it. ha ha I loved Beautiful Disaster, On Dublin Street, Poughkeepsie, Crossfire series and Gabriel's Inferno series.
Album: THE HEIST by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Some Nights by Fun., Channel Orange by Frank Ocean, A Thing Called Divine Fits by Divine Fits, Night Visions by Imagine Dragons, The Lumineeers Self Titled and Born to Die by Lana Del Rey.
Song: "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

Gift: My Kindle! I got it for Valentines Day last year and I've read at least 70 books on it since then!
Moment: The day I ran an awesome 20 miler with the New Bo Half and then spent the day in Iowa City with Aaron for our anniversary. I was nervous about tucking a race into a training run, but it was easily my favorite run of the year. Perfect day, perfect love.

Geez that was sure long winded for 2012 being tough. This post was such an awesome reminder of all the good that came with the challenges.

Happy New Year's Eve my lovelies,

xoxo
Falon
