For challenges and streaks and all sorts of other healthy attempts at not gaining holiday weight.
Well, guess what?! I am in!!!
I figured it was essential since I am still losing the weight I gained last Christmas. #fail Truth be told I struggle around the holidays, in more ways that one and this year I am hoping to celebrate these occasions without focusing on food. That tends to be the family focus and it is hard to seperate yourself from the pack.
So, my plans?!
- Well I have joined the Elf 4 Health Challenge! A lot of folks do the HBBC, but whatever I just must be different. The Elf 4 Health also assigns you a couple of pals to keep each other in line and what not so that was appealing. New friends that share similar goals? Yes, please. Click on the link above if you want to read more or sign-up. There are already over 200 participants! If you're in, leave me a comment below so we can badger and support each other. Thanks to Nutritionella and The Lean Green Bean for putting this on and I am excited to start!
- Also, Aaron Scheer (exercise hater) has agreed to do 60 days of Insanity with me. He hates running, but I still won't give up the dream of us working out together. Babe, it is on the blog... so it has got to happen now. I have no clue when we're starting since I'm borrowing the series for a friend, but you best believe that I'll be keeping you posted.
- Last, but certainly not least... the Runner's World Holiday Run Streak 2012! If you aren't familiar, you pledge to run at least ONE mile everyday from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day. I am really doing this because I flaked out last year in less than two weeks. Lame! I think I was doing too many one-milers so I dropped out feeling like a failure. Well, one mile is better than no mile. So, I'm easing up on myself and getting rid of the all or none crapitude.
What are you doing to stay in shape over the holidays? See above. Oh, I am also still focusing on plant-based diet.
What is your one holiday weakness? Yeah, sweets and stuffing. Damn them both!
xoxo,
falon

Yeay! I also joined the Elf for Health Challenge. I love that you get a supporting buddy. I tried doing the running streak this summer but running everyday just doesnt do me good when it comes to injuries. But i'll be cheering you guys along! :)
ReplyDeleteWinter is typically when I lose the weight I gained all summer long. That said, there's an awful lot of yummy food between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The way I'm going, though, I'll spend the whole time sick and just lose weight that way.
ReplyDeleteWe're going streaking!! (Why does that never get old?)
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting about the RW challenge. I'm going to do it. I'm in the "dead zone" that they speak of. Hold me accountable?
ReplyDeleteSweets are my weakness too. All.year.long.
Good luck with all your challenges! I'm doing HBBC again even though I said I wasn't going to, Pile on the Miles in November, and The Winter 100 Challenge that runs from December-February. I may have to check out the Elf for Health challenge-what's one more challenge?!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh there are so many awesome things going on out there! Best of luck! You will rock it !
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm ready for a streak. But I don't have this "break" of which they speak in my training plans either. argh.
ReplyDeleteStuffing is my favorite!!! I am gonna streak with you. Good luck with your goals during the holiday season. It is so hard to stay on track but looks like you have a strong plan!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be an ELF! Yay! Also, I'm going to create my own goals and ask my Elf to help with that. (Namely, sugary treats only 2x/week. I eat candy all day at work because my co-workers bring it in. Bad.
ReplyDeleteInsanity is hard core. Get ready to sweat! I've convinced my husband to do a 21 day sugar detox starting Dec 1. We'll see if having a buddy helps us stay strong!
ReplyDeleteJust signed up! Thanks for the inspiration :) I think your plans sound great. I plan on doing the RW streak as well and my biggest focus is to dial down the stress. Stress leads me to eat too much, sleep too much, sit on my ass too much = poor health! Mental and physical! You can totally do it!
