The Times They Are A Changin'

Since the marathon I have totally been flying fast and loose with ummm food. So, I just kind of relaxed, enjoyed fewer miles and more calories. However, as the holidays begin to creep up, now is the time to bring it back and reign it in.

After a few rich celebratory dinners for Aaron's birthday, we have decided to begin a junk food detox starting tomorrow. In preparation, I've hard boiled eggs, made hummus and granola. Before I went to the grocery store, I even planned out what we were going to have for dinner this week. Crazy! I have also learned that the key to healthy eating is BEING PREPARED to do so. An empty fridge will push you towards quick, crappy convenience foods.

Do you guys make a dinner schedule for the week? Do you stick to it?Tomorrow I plan on making some Zesty Tex Mex Chicken burgers. Yummm

In addition to the better eating, I am ready to get my workout mojo back. I only ran 11 miles last week, but they were so awesome that I was reminded of exactly what I was missing.

Tomorrow's workout?Easy 3 mile run + Jillian's Ripped in 30= 60 minutes of blissed out pre-work fitness!

Anyone else off track? How are you reclaiming your fit self?

xo,
falon

ps: the blog will be under some construction tomorrow... a new look is needed for my new attitude.

  1. Every week I TRY! I always change it up though...

  2. It's hard to be committed to a healthy lifestyle - especially after the PRD (post-race depression) creeps in. I try to keep accountable by telling people about my workouts (via blog, twitter, fb) and telling them to ask me about my workouts later that night. Knowing someone will ask me in a public way makes me workout to avoid embarrassment. I call that, shaming myself into the gym - and it works!

  3. As soon as my running goes, so does my nutrition! The two definitely go hand in hand.

  4. I had (HAVE) the same problem with the food thing post marathon. My bad eating habits are out of control! I heard on the news that candy is as addictive as crack 100% believe it. (Not that I have tried crack...) I started a mental goal of 6 servings of fruits and veggies every day. I know if I'm full on those then I won't reach for the junk as easily. You are totally right- it's all about being prepared. I have a family of 4, so weekly meal planning is a MUST.
