Comfort

Today was one of those days where the world outside my small home felt a little too harsh. As Iowa settles into Fall and eyeballs Winter, I long more and more for the things that bring me comfort.

My electric blanket, hot coffee on a cold drive, hooded sweatshirts and cable knit socks...
Okay, I look weird in this picture, but the kitty's cuteness outweighs my vanity. I suppose.
Kitties that fall asleep in your arms, the way my husband smells and yes even running.

Tonight was my first post marathon run. I gave it some time and in those eight days... I think I sort of forgot what I was missing. As a treat to myself for getting out there in the dark and the wind, I ran my favorite five mile loop. Yes, I drove to my old neighborhood just to run this loop because I know every crack, curb and climb on this route. Running it gave me comfort.

Stats were 5.0 miles in a flat 49 minutes.

I feel like tonight started a new chapter in my running. I have proven that I can do most anything on these two feet, maybe next season I should focus on doing it faster and stronger.

What gives you comfort?

What are your goals for winter training and the next running season?

xoxo,
falon

  2. Adoooooooooooorable!! #LOVE I agree - the midwest change in weather is SO apparent to me right now. And although I am trying to embrace outdoor (fall) weather, knowing that winter is looming makes it a little more sad. And getting dark before 7pm in ban-an-as.
